Jolles Lab

Our lab group at Plymouth State University researches the evolution and natural history of closely related species and lineages, especially plants and fungi. We use phylogenetic and ecological methods to understand both biogeographic patterns and a variety of adaptations, including geophily, buzz pollination, and mycoheterotrophy. We combine field collecting trips, herbarium curation (PSH), molecular lab research, and greenhouse studies to answer these questions. We share our discoveries at scientific conferences, in our coursework, and in publications. Our studies have been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals, including Systematic Botany, California Fish & Game, Taxon, and Madrono.
